Marcello's Mischief: "Sweet Child of Mine" 89'
It all happened so quickly, in a blur. I remembered seeing my mom yelling, excited, something had just happened...something bad....was our hero behind this at all?
It was 1989' and one of the most popular songs at that time was "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns and Roses. It was a catchy tune, possessing arguably the coolest opening, guitar riff in the world. I think that this song gave all geeks(including myself) the false illusion that if we played this riff then all the most beautiful girls would come clamouring to our front doors. You see if Slash and Axel could get girls playing the guitar, maybe we could also. However, little did we know though that this song would be become synonymous with the near destruction of our home.
You see our hero was a bit of a pyromaniac,(He still is) the mere thought of fire sent him salivating like Pavlov's dog. So he concocted an innovative, but dangerous scheme: to go to the closet with my brother and to play with toys in the dark, under candlelight while singing, "Sweet Child of Mine". Yes that is what he actually did, where he got this idea, we will never know. Unfortunately, one of the coats caught fire and it began to burn. Fortunately my mother smelled it and was able to immediately douse the flames with water. Fortunately we survived and our house remained intact.
